The Eye of Mares Blog Tour
To celebrate the release of the second instalment in the Rise of the Elohim chronicles, the Eye of Mares is going to blog hopping like a headlining rockstar, multiple showings for over the course of two weeks, with a new page shared with each appearance, continuing from where the last one went off and today I get to host the latest page:
The Eye of Mares – Part 7
…It was mid-morning. The house was as silent as the surrounding forest. High above, the sun cast out its scorching rays, lighting up the world.
There was movement on the ground as a quartet of mischievous boys ran through the forest. All of them wore sleeveless brown tunics, and no leggings. They were tanned from the sun. The gang, between the ages of six and twelve, made a move for the treehouse.
“I’m not sure this is a good idea,” Avi, the youngest of the group remarked and brushed his long, dirty blond hair out of his eyes.
Being the smallest, the six-year-old struggled to keep up with the pace set by his friends. The second two lads in the group, Blaze and Thor laughed. At ages eight and nine, they both bore brown hair and brown eyes and were of even height, with the same lack of good looks.
Towering above them all was a black haired boy, with bright green eyes. At five-foot three inches and twelve years old, Damien was their self-appointed leader.
“He won’t like us breaking in,” the second youngest boy whispered.
“Hey, this is about respect!” Damien snapped. “For too long I have let him go on thinking he is better than me. Thinking himself to be Tormenta’s gift all because he defeated a couple of Shanzi a few years ago!”
“Well, he is,” stated Thor, the eight-year-old. He grinned lopsidedly. “After all, he is a Child of Tormenta.”
“Grrr,” Damien snarled frustratedly.
Children of Tormenta were infants blessed with abilities, chosen by the Goddess Tormenta herself, who were put into a basket and set out to sea, taken by the currents until they reached the training Islands of the Watchers. Seven sacred islands, one of each resided in seven of the eleven realms. Islands designated to the elite race of Warriors known as the Watchers, the lone protectors…
